Exterior Doors Repaired & Painted

Domestic

About the client

A regular customer who owns a Grade II listed building contacted us regarding damaged and rotting wooden doors and windows that required repair and repainting.

The Brief

The customer asked us to repair her doors and windows and remedy areas that had deteriorated and rotted due to weather exposure.

Our approach

After starting the work, it became apparent that the rotten wood was worse than first thought with some areas beyond repair. Sections of wood across the doors and windows needed completing removing and replacing, which required taking out a whole window and door so they could be repaired.

Removing the rotten timber meant two different repair methods were required. In some areas, whole new sections of wood were required, whilst other smaller areas could be repaired and rebuilt using Repair Care Dry Flex 4. Repair Care Dry Flex 4 is a fast-curing two-part epoxy resin that can be shaped and moulded to replicate the original wooden structure.

Once these process where completed, the remaining wood was filled and sanded ready for painting. We then painted the doors a sleek black colour using outdoor suitable paint to protect the windows and doors and restore them to their original glory.

Results

The customer was over the moon with the results, being especially pleased that she didn’t have to fully replace any doors or window.
