Large House Exterior Render Repaired & Painted

About the client

This customer had recently purchased their new house but the exterior render was looking weathered, worn and in need of a freshen up.

The Brief

The render had issues with large cracks, areas which had blown, and peeling paint. The customer wanted to ensure that the front of the house was refreshed during the summer in preparation for the winter.

Our approach

This was a large project, which we decided to split down into 3 parts. The garage and side of the house were completed first, with the front central section of the house second and lastly, the side gable and end third.

This sizeable project required a lot of preparation work to ensure a high-quality end finish. During each stage, any cracks were scraped out, and any peeling paint removed. Once all cracks and paint flakes were removed, we applied Zinsser peel stop to seal and stick the paint edges down. In order to fill in cracks or holes, we applied mixed masory and then sanded to level out the surface. We also then masked areas to protect them before painting.

We used Johnstone’s Storm Shield Smooth masonry paint for this project. This paint dries to be waterproof within 20 mins and has a 15-year life expectancy.

Results

This was a great project to be involved in. Overall, the project took a total of 10 days to complete. The customer was very happy with the results and asked us to do further work on the interior of their home, as well as referring us to work on their daughters house. We loved giving life back to this home.
